In her 2017 exhibition at PNCA Islamabad, Khalid explored the meditative trance that envelops her spirit during the creation of her geometric and monumental works through a performance piece. The installation featured two videos positioned on either side of the viewer. One video depicted Khalid in a contemplative state, methodically piercing pins into fabric, while the other showcased musicians and singers in a trance, reciting verses from the poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, a revered Sufi saint and one of the greatest Sindhi poets.
At the center of the installation was a piece featuring the word ‘Ishq’ (love), crafted with gold-plated common pins pierced into a gilded canvas. This central artwork provided audiences with a profound insight into Khalid’s artistic process, allowing them to experience the meditative and spiritual dimensions of her work.
